Reigning league champions APR volleyball club is geared up for the 2012 Men African clubs champions championship due April 21-30 in Tunis, Tunisia that has attracted over 15 clubs from across the continent.After preparing for more than two months, the army side which leaves Kigali tomorrow morning aboard RwandAir does believe that the challenge that lies ahead is a big one but the will to perform will drive them to higher levels.According to APR’s head coach Sammy Mulinge, his charges have trained so hard and with the experience in recent months will focus on finishing among the top ten clubs-which to him is a realistic objective for the military side.APR lost Lawrence Yakan to Algerian side Etoile Sportive Seif mid-last year but according to Mulinge the club has since moved on with enthusiastic young players like Fred Musoni and the experienced duo of power attackers Bernard Othieno and Theodatus Hyango to inspire the Rwandan outfit.Mulinge explained, “We have always relied on national team players in our club to take us to the forefront but this year we have so many young players who want to show their abilities and this is their opportunity to do so.”APR finished in fourth position at last year’s edition in Cairo, Egypt, but that side has since changed. The club lost so many national team players to local clubs. However, Mulinge adds that finishing in the top four will be an added advantage but the main aim is to finish among the top ten.
