Kenya’s energy sector regulator on Saturday increased the retail prices for super petrol, diesel and kerosene in the latest price review that is expected to have an impact on the inflation which has been decreasing in the past three months.The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) said a litre of super petrol will increase by 7 shillings (0.084 U.S. cents) and retail at 1.42 U.S. dollars, diesel went up by 3.67 shillings (0.044 U.S. cents) and kerosene rose by 2.14 shillings (0.025 U.S. cents).Maximum prices for the other towns have been adjusted accordingly,” ERC Engineer Kaburu Mwirichia said in a statement released in Nairobi.wirichia said in the last two months, there has been a steep upward trend in the price of crude and refined petroleum products in the international market.“This has negative impact in current and subsequent price reviews. Recently, the local currency has continued to be relative stable to the U.S. dollar,” he said.
