KIE Students urged to fight Genocide Ideology

The Vice Rector in charge of administration at Kigali Institute of Education (KIE), Alphonse Kamali, has called on students to intensify the use of associations at their schools to fight against the genocide ideology.He made the remarks on Friday when he led KIE students to reach out to widows in Kiziguro Sector, Gatsibo district.“Through these associations, students are able to get more information about genocide and also learn to get close to those who were affected in terms of supporting them,” Kamali said.During the visit, students gave financial support of Rwf 500,000 and donated mattresses to both widows and orphans. Speaking to The Sunday Times the head of students, Dartagnan Habintwali, said that the donation is a contribution made by students under KIE association against Genocide.“Reaching out to the needy does not mean one should be rich, but it’s the willingness to offer what you can afford so that others can also borrow a leaf from your actions,” Habintwali said.He noted that although reaching out to the needy should not be done only during the time of commemoration, the period calls for collective efforts in comforting each other especially survivors.Speaking on behalf the beneficiaries, Alice Uwera, appreciated and called upon other members to work hard and improve their living conditions.“Today, we are being supported but it is a challenge to us because we also need to support others as well,” she said.
