Young people must get involved in the fight against Genocide ideology if they are to prepare a bright future for the country, the minister of youth, Jean Philbert Nsengimana, has said.He was addressing students and staff of the National University of Rwanda, this week, as part of the ongoing series of public lectures to mark the weeklong 18th anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.Minister Nsengimana told the students that their role in fighting genocide ideology is vital and warned that ignoring it would result in ruining the country once again. He said: “It is actually a struggle in which everyone must take part. We must fight against it (Genocide ideology) today, not tomorrow.”“If we ignore it today, we will have to face its consequences tomorrow. As the youth, you must think of various strategies of getting rid of it. That will ensure the sustainability of what we do and set a ground for our bright future.”This year’s commemoration week is held under the theme: “Let us learn from our history to build a bright future”.
