Francis Haringingo’s Rayon Sports will have to make no mistake and beat Espoir in Rusizi on Sunday to boost their chances of winning the Rwanda Premier League title following Kiyovu and APR’s slip ups following Saturday draws against Mukura and AS Kigali respectively. Kiyovu failed to beat Mukura at Muhanga Stadium to take control of the title race as the pair played out a goalless draw. AS Kigali may be struggling in the league but that didn’t prevent them from keeping their unbeaten run against APR. Striker Shaban ‘Tshabalala’ Hussein scored from the spot to give AS Kigali the lead after 31 minutes after Jacques Tuyisenge was fouled in the penalty area. Ben Moussa’s men dominated the ball possession as they were under pressure pushing for an equalizer which they got 10 minutes later through Omborenga Fitina. The right back also converted the spot kick after Alain Kwitonda was brought down in the penalty area after a great combination with Yannick Bizimana. The two teams produced numerous chances that could have resulted in goals in the second half but they failed to capitalize them until the referee blew the final whistle. Despite Saturday’s draws, Kiyovu and APR keep their top two spots in the league table with the former having three-point lead at the top with 57 points followed by APR who have 54 points.
