Wednesday Semi-finals of Playoffs REG Vs APR 8pm APR Basketball Club are optimistic that they will beat Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in the playoff semifinals and book a place in the finals despite being rated as underdogs in the tournament. The two sides are currently locked at one win each after playing two games of the best-of-three semifinals. On Wednesday, they will be playing the third and ultimate game which will decide which of them proceeds to the finals. In an exclusive interview with Times Sport, Cliff Owuor, the Head Coach of APR, said he believes this is his team's chance to go for the finals of the playoffs. For about six years, REG and The Patriots have been reaching the finals of the playoffs. But I now believe it's time that APR challenges them at the big stage, he said. In a separate interview, Henry Mwinuka, REG's Head Coach said he has faith in his players to get the job done. “I have faith in my players; I know we can do this as a team. We have been training and trying to correct weaknesses and mistakes we noticed from game 2, we will come back stronger, he said. He added: Our target stands still, we want to win the treble and we won’t give up until the last minute. Game 3 is very crucial; we can’t afford any unnecessary mistakes. We will do all we can for this very important win. The finals will take place from September 7 through 16th at the Kigali Arena, in a best-of-five series. In the women’s category, REG will face APR in the final.
