After establishing himself in the local music industry, Elion Victory is headed for the region.Elion annual who failed to make the 10 final musicians to compete in the second edition of Primus Guma Guma Superstar (GGSS) competition, said he will be leaving for Nairobi, Kenya, where he has already made connections. “I have already got a promoter in Kenya, Robert Kamanzi, who will start by promoting two of my songs, Zainabu and Juyanini,” Victory said. The Afro beat artiste who became popular in the music industry immediately after releasing his single “Marita” and “Amafaranga” pointed out that although he loves doing it at the domestic scene, he has to go a step farther.“The reason why musicians from other countries are hitting even here in Rwanda is that they do not concentrate only on the local market or in their countries, but they try as much as possible to appeal to the region,” he said.Although Elion will continue releasing songs in Kinyarwanda, he says focus is now mainly on Swahiri and English. He said: “When you hit in Nairobi, it is very easy to connect to Nigeria and this gives me a chance to meet big stars, and to learn and share experience.”
