THE new national tennis federation president, Theoneste Karenzi, wants more local competitions to boost the game in the country.“Our immediate target is to scout for corporate sponsorship to organise more competitions that will develop our players into more than regional stars. We also want to have more training clinics for both coaches and players.” Karenzi said yesterday after being sworn into office.There are currently seven tennis clubs in the country which include; Nyarturama, Amahoro, Kanombe, Cercle, Novotel, Butare and UNR.Karenzi alongside Kassim Ntageruka (First Vice President), Theoneste Bahati (Second Vice President), Justin Rwema Mwanafunzi (Secretary General) Jean Pierre Iyamuremye (Treasurer), Jean Pierre Nshimiyimana (Technical), Ernestine Umulisa (Adminstration), Francois Bizimana (Finance), Dr. Jennifer Mbabazi (Legal) will be in charge of the Tennis Federation for the next two years.Former federation president Francois Ruterana resigned after just two years in office after blaming his executive committee for not fulfilling their obligations.The committee members, with the exception of Theoneste Bahati, all resigned.
