TVET’S best aspires to become an IT Specialist

EXCELLENCE:Scored A in five subjects Saflath Kazarwa, 22, couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw her Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) examinations results. She expected to perform well but not that superbly well.She was the best student countrywide, in the Electricity course.Kazarwa,who emerged with A’s in five subjects and a C in the practicals says that nothing can stop her now from achieving her dream as one of the best IT Specialists Rwanda will ever have.While at Solidarity Academy, she majored in Electricity and the subjects she studied included; Maths, General Electricity, Technology, APH, English and practicals.She attributes her success to commitment and hard work which she has held onto all throughout her high school years.“It wasn’t easy to juggle with all these seemingly hard subjects but I was committed to doing my best to win this race, so I read very hard. I believe I have reaped from what I sowed,”Kazarwa says.Before joining Solidarity Academy School, Kazarwa was a student at Sopem Secondary school, Rukomo where she did her senior one, senior two and senior three.Kazarwa was born 22 years ago to Mable Mukankusi and Valence Mudahemuka.She is a second born in a family of six children and says that she hopes to always work hard and inspire her little brothers and sisters.Kazarwa calls upon other students to always focus on their studies if they want to have excellent grades as hers.“There are so many students who are at school in body but their minds are always elsewhere. They are always engaged in other things like gossip, relationships, going to night clubs and alcohol. If a student is focusing on these other non-beneficial things, then they can’t succeed in their studies,” notes the soft spoken Kazarwa.Kazarwa urges other students to always concentrate at school, spend time reading and that way, God will reward them with very good grades.She hopes to join Kigali Institute of Science and Technology for her University studies and after, pursue her dream career as an IT Specialist.Deltrida Uwamwezi, who was Kazarwa’s head teacher says she was a very disciplined girl and also hardworking.“She is one of the few who pursued a male dominated course and we were a bit surprised that she emerged best in Electricity, country wide. We expected her to perform well but not to that level,”Uwamwezi says.Uwamwezi observes that very few girls are interested in this course but Kazarwa courageously took it on and made the country proud.Kazarwa’s mother, Mukankusi, who is a housewife, was ecstatic when she heard about her daughter’s excellent performance.Mudahemuka, concurs with her former Head Teacher saying that her daughter is very disciplined and hard working“I have never seen my daughter with boys or coming back home late. She was always home reading and doing her house chores. My daughter was also coaching in her free time. She has never disturbed us in any way but only pleases us with her intelligence, hardwork and discipline,” Mudahemuka recounts.He adds that her daughter has been an inspiration to her siblings who have also decided to follow her path and will even be competing to perform better than her.
