Editor, The Rwanda National Police and the general public are really working so hard to break the cycle of drug trafficking and abuse throughout the country. When you visit some countries in the region you that drug abuse and trade were thriving as if no one, not even leaders, were caring at all. In general, it is clear that the most vulnerable people are the youth since they constitute the biggest market for illegal drugs. School children are among the most affected.Drug abuse is one of the main factors responsible for school dropout rate, along with early pregnancies and other social vices. Not forgetting that drug abuse is also among the main causes of traffic accidents, rape and robbery. Therefore, it should be everyone’s responsibility to find drug abuse and other social ills since everyone is likely to be affected in one way or another. But we cannot succeed if don’t create mechanisms and necessary cooperation to deal with drug traffickers.Parents, teachers and Rwandans of all walks of life should all join the fight against drug trafficking and abuse if we are to protect our future leaders and generations.Eugene RukundoKayonza
