Tuesday Marines v APR (Umuganda Stadium) 3pm APR FC will be hoping to bounce back from their recent uninspiring performance when they face Marines FC in Tuesday’s crunch Peace Cup quarter finals second leg game at Umuganda Stadium, Rubavu. Ben Moussa’s side takes a 2-1 first leg lead to Rubavu hoping to avoid a defeat I the return leg to secure a berth in the semifinals. The last time the pair played at Umuganda Stadium was on March 11 when APR survived a late scare to win 3-2 in a league game. Following a draw with Gasogi and a defeat to Police FC, a run which has seen them relinquish the top position in the league, the Peace Cup could be the only avenue for APR to win a laurel this season. Marines, on the other hand, are brimming with confidence following their recent form which has seen them move out of the league relegation zone and they would want to replicate that form in the Peace Cup Arthur Gitego has been on fire both in the league and the Peace Cup. He could be the same player who can cause the damage in the army side’s defense while APR will also be relying on the services of the likes of Yannick Bizimana who was on target in the first leg. A defeat for APR will undoubtedly bring pressure on coach Ben Moussa whose performance is increasingly raising questions from the club’s top hierarchy. He must do everything to not only eliminate Marines but also win the title if he is to avoid the sacking. APR are firm favorites to win and qualify but they can get a shock if they underrate Marines.
