IN a bid to develop women cycling in the country, the National cycling Federation will hold a cycling race for women on 25th March of this month.Over 100 girls will take part in 40km race that will be held in Bugesera and according to Emmanuel Murenzi, the Executive Secretary of the Cycling Federation, the talent scout will also be held in the provinces of Musanze and Huye.“One of our objectives this year is to develop the sport among women so that we have a national team of women cyclists.We hope to have this team by November and send it alongside the men’s team to the African continental cycling championship that will take place in Burkina Faso.” Murenzi said.Rwanda remains the best cycling nation in the region by many miles and only elite countries like Morocco, South Africa and Eritrea have better cyclists on the continent.The Tour of Rwanda is now the third highest ranked race in Africa after Tour of Gabon and Tour of Burkinfaso.
