THIS year’s edition of the Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSSA) games will take place in Bujumbura-Burundi from August 24th-2nd September.Flora Rwigema, an official in the Local Secondary Schools Sports Association said the country’s representatives will start preparations on August 3rd till departure.“We gave our players enough time to prepare for the games last year and we managed to win medals, so we shall do the same this year.” Rwigema noted.Nyamasheke won the boys and girl handball trophies last year whileas Apapeki beat Kitende to win the boys’ Volleyball crown.Burundi beat Tanzania and South Sudan for the rights to host the Games. Tanzania and South Sudan are understood not to have shown readiness to host the games when the inspectors visited them.New comers South Sudan were the first country to forward their bid while Tanzania declined hosting last year’s edition at the 11th hour as the hosting rights were passed on to stand-by Uganda.However, South Sudan and Tanzania will now be given a chance to host the 2013 and 2014 editions respectively on condition that they show readiness and keep sending teams to the games.
