Sunday KVC 1-3 Kirehe IPRC-Ngoma 3-0 IPRC-Musanze Gisagara 3-1 Police APR 2-3 REG Men’s volleyball league defending champions Rwanda Energy Group (REG) started the 2023 campaign in style, winning their first two opening league games including Sunday’s hard fought 3-2 victory over APR at Kimisagara Gymnasium. REG started their title defense with a crunch game against APR VC. The champions beat the military side 3-2 (25-23, 24-26, 24-26, 25-17 and16-14) before they won against Kigali Volleyball Club 3-0 (25-22, 25-10 and 25-17). The weekend performance was a morale booster for REG who are preparing to represent Rwanda in the Men’s African Club Championships due from May 9-22 at Tunis, Tunisia. The Club Championship is considered as one of the most prestigious volleyball tournaments in Africa attracting the best clubs across the continent. Elsewhere, Gisagara beat Police 3-1 (22-25, 28-26, 25-21 and 25-18) while IPRC-Ngoma beat IPRC-Musanze 3-0. Kirehe put their financial crisis aside to get off to a winning start as they beat KVC 3-1.
