Medics call for regular check-ups in campaign

Irrespective of your age or medical history, a complete check up can help detect fatal diseases and put you on the right path of treatment for a speedy recovery.In the ongoing campaign to sensitise the public about going for regular medical check-ups that kicked off early this week, Mary Ineza,22, a student at Adventist University of Central Africa, went for a check-up and was shocked by the state of her health.Ineza, a resident of Kabeza in Kicukiro District, weighs 52 kilograms and seems totally healthy; however that wasn’t the case.“I heard about the campaign and decided to just go for the check-up because I was a bit bored at home. I was very certain that my health was in perfect shape until I took the few minutes test only to discover that I have low protein metabolism, stress of brain tissues, low energy flow, gastric ulcers and electromagnetic radiation effects due to speaking too much on the phone,” Ineza says.She adds that she was advised on the right foods to eat, those to cut out and the right exercises to perform.The check-up revealed that Ineza has little blood in her body therefore needs to cut out stimulating foods, but rather eat more vegetables and fruits.Gerald Ruzindana, a reflexologist working with Green World International, also heading the campaign, noted that people always wait to fall sick before going to the hospital, which shouldn’t be the case.He urged people to always undertake regular check-ups at a health facility or reflexology centre.“Many people realise they are suffering from a disease when it’s in its advanced stages and sometimes can’t be cured. That’s because there was no early detection. People should therefore take regular medical check-ups,” he said.He called upon people to always exercise and eat the right foods with little or no oil content.Joel Gatanazi, a first year student at the School of Finance and Banking, also had his body checked yesterday.He stated that it’s very vital for everyone to have regular medical body checkups to be sure of their health status.Currently, the campaign is ongoing at Kabeza cell and will end on Sunday.It is being organized by Green World International, an American-Chinese organization that distributes health products.
