Striker Leandre Willy Onana scored a 69th minute winner to help Rayon Sports grab all three points after Sunday’s 2-1 away victory over Rwamagana City in a replay encounter held at Ngoma Stadium, a result that kept them in the title race with four games to go. The pair were playing the 63 remaining minutes of the game which was initially played on Saturday but heavy rain forced match officials to suspend it in the 27th minute with the scores at 1-1. Rwamagana City had opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Raphael Osaluwe’s 40-yard strike leveled the scores for the Blues before the referee stopped the game. The game resumed on Sunday with Rayon in total control as they began brightly in the 28th minute. They played free flowing attacking football but the Rwamagana City back four defended gallantly to make sure the teams go to half time with a draw. Rayon got the much-needed goal in the 64th minute through in-form Leandre Willy Onana Essomba as they cruised to a 2-1 victory that saw Francis Haringingo’s side maintain third place on the table with 52 points, four points behind league leaders Kiyovu Sports. Other games Gasogi United held Bugesera FC to a 1-1 draw in Nyamata. Central African Republic midfielder Theodor Malipangou opened the scoring for the away side in the 20th minute before Eric Nshimiyimana’s home side equalized with three minutes to full time. Meanwhile, AS Kigali traveled to the Ubworoherane Stadium to share the spoils with Musanze FC in a goalless draw.
