ICC World Cricket League Div.3 Yesterday Semi-finals Ghana beats Rwanda by 7 wickets Today 3rd/4th play-off Rwanda v Sierra Leone Ghana wiped away Rwanda’s hopes of winning this year ICC World Cricket League Division 3 title after beating the semifinal debutants by winning the semifinal tie by seven wickets in the game played yesterday in Benoni, Johannesburg, South Africa. Rwanda making its third appearance in the event had banked on new found hero Eric Dusabemungu after seeing off Lesotho and Malawi in the group stages, however the Young Tigers bowler failed to knock out the much experienced West Africans who will now be turning their guns on the a South African Invitational side who won against pre-tournament favourites Sierra Leone in the other semifinal. Rwanda finished second in Pool A which comprised of Sierra Leone, Malawi and Lesotho. Ghana finished unbeaten in Pool B which also featured Swaziland, Gambia and an invitational side from South Africa who are standing in for Morocco. Batting was Rwanda’s undoing despite earning reputation as being the tournament’s best bowling side in the group stage. Elsewhere, 2006 finalists Sierra Leone were knocked out by South Africa’s invitational side in the other semi-final game to set up clash with Ghana for tomorrow’s final. Rwanda’s loss to Ghana has hindered the country’s chances of moving up in International cricket council status.
