Edwin Mbanda, the deceased son of Laurent Mbanda, the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Rwanda was a good basketball player and businessperson, according to his acquaintances. The 33-year-old died on Thursday, April 18, in the United States of America while in his sleep. A source acquainted with him that talked to The New Times, said Mbanda Jr. lived in the USA for most of his life, and it is where he pursued studies in Business. He had skills in Fintech, Payments, and E-commerce, but also was a good basketball player who featured for various school teams in the USA, including Eastern University, in Pennsylvania, playing as a forward. In a tweet posted by his sister Erica Mbanda, she described him as a gentle giant, a person that loved his family and friends and had a smile and laughter that were infectious. His father Archbishop Laurent Mbanda, eulogised him, also via a tweet, saying he had big dreams which will be fulfilled “through us.” “Love you, Eddie. You have left us, but you are with us and will never depart. Instead, we will join you someday. You had big dreams, and they will be fulfilled through us,” Mbanda tweeted.
