Dear editor, Barack Obama’s Speech on Race was inspiring. Given that Reverend Jeremiah Wright used incendiary language to convey his perspective on the United States. But as Senator Obama clearly stated in his speech, many have heard remarks from their pastors, priests or rabbis with which they have disagreed. So now I ask, what was the big deal? Mr. Obama shows diversity and the ability to grasp the points of view of the majority and minorities in this country. I believe this is what is needed to build any country. Upon reading the words of the man I hope will be our next president; I have come to realize that the US is still stained with the blood of those oppressed. No matter how much it is said that the US is a land of freedom and unity, its actions say otherwise. The US has to live up to its constitution and resolve the problems of race before trying to change the ways of those across the world. I am truly inspired by this man of great words. Senator Obama’s speech will open other people’s eyes to what is going on in the world. I have learned more about Obama’s background. His speech made me realize about the things that I have been blind to. America needs someone who will be able to address this soon, with great insight. Remera
