Following the disappointment of their last game against Gasogi United, APR FC chairman Lt. Gen Mubarak Muganga believes his side has the potential to retain the 2022/23 Rwanda Premier League. The military side dropped two points in their last game. Muganga said the club remains convinced that it will win a title this season and has urged players to remain focused for the remaining matches. Muganga was disappointed by his team’s performance against Gasogi United after dropping two points last Saturday. The match between APR and Gasogi United ended with a goalless draw, which left APR’s coach Ben Moussa upset in a way. Muganga said: “We are not happy with the performance of the players in general. It is not good to see the biggest team like APR, playing with a low level of intensity. Our performance was so poor. We need to improve for the next matches.” APR is on top of the table with a 53 points tally with SC Kiyovu but they have another tricky game against Police on Saturday at Kigali Pelé Stadium. Muganga requested players to improve their performance. “It is not good for big teams like APR to play like that but you need to continue to work hard so that we can win the next matches. I know it's the final stage of the season but I can’t cover up for this awful performance.” The APR chairman spoke to the players, coaches and staff of the team, telling them that management is not happy with the way they are doing in the league even though they are currently in top position. “We are not happy because of the way we behave both in the games and the daily discipline because everything is based on that [discipline] and it makes us think that you have been wrong about your abilities yet you are among the best and most capable players. It forces us to start doubting you.” APR lead the table with 53 points after 25 games whereas Kiyovu have also amassed the same points though the army side have a superior goal difference. Third-placed Rayon Sports trail four points adrift of the two teams with 49 points but, mathematically, they are still in contention for the title which they could lift should they win all their games and the two top teams drop points.
