No complacency

Police Fc leading striker Meddie Kagere has ruled out the possibility of his team getting complacent despite getting a famous win over rivals APR and going three points clear at the top of the Primus National Football League on Saturday.The Amavubi Stars striker was on the score sheet with colleague Laudit Mavugo as the law enforcers, who had never beaten APR in the league came from behind to get a 3-2 deserved win that means they go in to the second half of the season top of the table for the first time since the club’s formation.“The defeat of APR is all about increasing confidence in our team, nothing more. We now need to maintain that kind of consistency against all teams in the second half of the season,” stated the Uganda-born forward.The Police skipper also reiterated his desire to move abroad at the end of the season, although when pressed whether he could stay if the club offered him a good deal, the 25-year old said he would consider it.The club now faces their stiffest challenge in their history as they aim to wrestle APR off the league title which the military side has dominated in the last 17 years.Another title contender, Rayon Sports, stayed in touching distance of the league leaders after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Amagaju on Sunday.The win leaves Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s team five points adrift of Police and just two behind reigning champions APR.Police lead the table with 27 points, APR follows with 24 points, while Rayon Sports, in third, have 22 points.The league is now in recess till after the February 29th 2013 African Cup of Nations’ qualifier against Nigeria.
