One of Rwanda’s six Global Top Models, Diane Ngabonziza, is in India to represent Rwanda at the fourth edition of the Miss Supermodel Worldwide contest that will be held in New Delhi, India. She was crowned Rwanda’s Global top model among five other top models this year in Miss Global Beauty Rwanda, a beauty contest that gives six winners opportunities to represent the country in different international beauty pageants. The annual beauty pageant in Rwanda, organised by Embrace Africa aims at giving more Rwandan women an opportunity to represent Rwanda in more international beauty pageants. Paulette Ndekwe, one of the organisers of Rwanda’s Globe Top Model told The New Times that it is always a pleasure carrying the country's flag to an international event. “I am grateful for this opportunity that can create more improvement in the future.Joining an international event, Rwandans must learn that it's not only about winning because destiny only decides who wins, and that the chosen one in each country is suited to winning. “Rwandans first of all should expect from our representative to make our country known to some who don't know it yet, because they are appearing in different Indian activities like Women Empowerment in India and many other activities. They will also do fashion shows while carrying their country’s names on their sashes as well as being published in Indian newspapers and other international media. It is part of advertising Rwanda and making it known to the world and that may attract more tourists in our beautiful country . Among the contest’s activities to be held include the Evening Gown Competition, Swimsuit competition, National Costume Competition and the judges will pick among them winners according to their performance. The prize fund worth 20,000 dollars will go to the overall winner. Miss Supermodel Worldwide is an international modelling competition and beauty pageant headquartered in New Delhi. The event was created by Indian entrepreneur, painter and social activist, Sandeep Kumar in 2018. The pageant aims to support women empowerment, tourism and culture exchange. Along with being an international fashion event, the pageant is also associated with noble causes like importance of education, equal rights for all individuals, gender based equality and Go Green, Stay Clean - environmental causes. Via the pageant, the organization aims to create awareness on global issues like hunger, global warming, domestic violence and gender based biases.
