Editor, I am a regular reader of your newspaper and I express gratitude to The New Times staff for informing us on happenings not only in Rwanda but the world at large. Rwandans ought to know that they are 100 percent responsible for building their own nation using all possible means available and should not indulge in acts that tarnish the country’s image and deprive it of taxes. That said, the ring of garage owners caught in illegal vehicle-registration is a clear indication that there are some citizens who do not have the well being of the nation at heart. Rwandans should appreciate and support the good work carried out by the national police and RRA in fighting against tax evasion. I further single out the whistleblower who reported the racket to the police thus setting a good example as a patriot. I appeal to the police and RRA to launch a rigorous campaign to vet all garages and allied businesses countrywide to rid them of related fraudulent practices. Nathan GashemaKanombe
