Editor, I am writing to commend Joseph Rwagatare for his excellent opinion piece in The New Times, January 17, 2012, titled “.Leon Mugesera case- pervasion of justice?” Perhaps the only major point missing in the commentary is mention of certain key human rights agencies that are extremely well-financed, well-connected and thus powerful pressure groups, such as Human Rights Watch. Most of these activist organisations may have started life with commendably humane goals, but as their power and influence has grown, many have lost their original objectives. This is sad indeed. J.
