Dismas Kayibanda has been re-elected president of Rwanda Automobile Club (RAC) the fifth consecutive term last Friday. Kayibanda, who has been at the helm local rally body since 1999 told Times Sport yesterday that he is grateful to the members who continued with their trust in him but confirmed he, would not seek another term after this. The elections had initially been scheduled to be held last year but were postponed for different, which means, Kayibanda has one left on his fifth term. I want to help local rally more efficiently as a member and that why I will not seek another term of office. Serving for five terms is enough and I want to see someone else take over the rally club, he noted. Then noted, I have done my best to lift the standards of motor rallying in Rwanda to a satisfying level in the regional as well as on the continent and I will continue to do even better but as a member. Other elected rally committee members include Yan Demeester (vice president), Salim Abdeelgan (Secretary General) and Davite Giancarlo (treasurer). Three permanent board members were also elected and they include; Claude Kwizera, Elefter Mitraros and Fitidis Christakis. Meanwhile, Kayibanda has vowed to do everything possible to see that next month’s Mountain Gorilla Rally is the best ever. The Rwanda rally, which is the third on the Africa Rally Championship, is set for May 30-June 1.Ends
