Bishop Severien Nzakamwita has called on youth in Gicumbi District to abstain from pre marital sex. He made the remarks during a campaign against HIV/AIDS that was organized by Rwanda Interfaith Network (RCLS) in Rushaki Sector. The campaign drive is funded by Christian. Nzakamwita advised Rushaki residents to shun dubious behaviour and concentrate on developmental projects to improve their lives. “Protecting yourself from acts that do not pay off and setting up development projects is the only way you can establish a better life,” he said. During the event, a technical school built by the Catholic Church in Gicumbi was also launched. He urged youths to embrace seeking knowledge and skills from the technical school. The event also saw the awarding of certificates to youth who completed a one-year course in brick laying and tailoring at the same school in the village. Residents said the school will create a positive impact by transforming redundant youth in the village. ‘We are very happy for the school. Our children who had lost hope of attaining knowledge will have a chance to acquire skills,” one of the residents said. fred.ndoli@newtimes.co.rw
