RWANDA Cricket Association (RCA) has named a provisional 22-man squad to compete at this year’s ICC/ACA Africa Division 3 Twenty20 tournament in South Africa. Besides Rwanda, the five-day tournament will also attract Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Malawi and Sierra Leone. The national team manager Eddie Balaba revealed that the criterion for selection was individual performances at last year’s Sulfo league. The team will be handled by former Ugandan international Joshua Mwanja. Last season, the middle order batsman proved that ‘class is permanent’ by top scoring in the Sulfo league to eventually guide Right Guards to their first trophy in the club’s eight-year history. “T-20 cricket is very demanding both physically and mentally so we believe that with early preparations, the lads will be in good shape for the tournament,” Balaba said. Training starts this Saturday at Kicukiro cricket oval.
