The National rugby federation has lined a series of 7s circuit competitions geared towards selecting a team that will represent Rwanda at the Kwoloo 10s tournament in Hong Kong in March this year. According to the vice president of the Rugby Federation, Alex Araire, players from all clubs “have the perfect chance to seize the opportunity and impress if they want to make the national team”. The 7s tournaments will kick off with the annual Buffaloes 7s, followed by Rugby Federation 7s,Sharks 7s,Lion der Fer 7s and the Muhanga 7s. The rugby league is expected to start in early May and Araire confirmed that the federation is ‘knocking on doors ‘of corporate companies to secure sponsorship for the league. Last year, Inyange Industries boosted the league by providing water, juices and milk for every match day. The rugby league as well as the volleyball league, basketball league and, handball don’t have sponsors, something that has impeded their competitiveness. ostine.arinaitwe@newtimes.co.rw
