Musanze – A Rwf 600 million modern market, which will be constructed in Byangabo trading centre, Busogo Sector, is expected to boost business activities in the district, an official has announced. Musanze District Vice Mayor, Jerome Mugenzi, said construction activities begun this week, with the first phase set to be completed in the next six months. “We hope the market will generate much needed revenue and a ready market for agricultural produce in the area,” he said. He explained that five families whose land was partly annexed would be expropriated accordingly. “Some have received their money, the rest are in the process of being compensated”. The deputy Director General of Rwanda Local Development Support Fund (RLDSF), Saidi Sibomana, said money had been dispatched to the district account to complete the first phase of the construction process. Claudine Nyiransenga, a resident of Byangabo, said the market is long overdue as the area lacked a decent trading centre. Bonny.mukombozi@newtimes.co.rw
