Bourbon opens third US store

Cambridge, Massachusetts, has become the third location of Bourbon Coffee in the United States of America after Washington D.C. and New York City. ‘Bourbon is more than a place to have Coffee, but rather a place to come and share the warmth and spirit of reconciliation and ingenuity as evidenced by Rwanda today,’ said Bobby Sager, the Honorary Consul General for Rwanda, at the opening ceremony of the Cambridge Bourbon Coffee shop located at the Porter Exchange building. Sager also highlighted the accelerated growth of Rwanda and its thrilling achievements over the past few years. Joseph Moore, the President of Lesley University, expressed excitement for Bourbon Coffee becoming a part of their community at large. He welcomed the opportunity of the University to open its doors for Rwandans and its friends over the coming years. Moore also underscored the commonality of shared values between the University and Bourbon Coffee. Guests were delighted to see the store’s décor and accessories which seemingly transported them back to a place where they can visualize farmers planting, cultivating and harvesting their crop. They were entertained by a troupe of young Rwandan dancers who showcased the dance and culture of Rwanda. As guests departed, they promised to return for a second cup and many more. The event was attended by a host of Rwandans living in the USA accompanied by friends of Rwanda. “In Rwanda, we believe we have a lot to give. Rwanda is a country that has a ‘can-do attitude’. It doesn’t matter that we, as a country, have gone through our own trials and tribulations such as the horrific 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi,” said Bosco Munga, who runs the Cambridge outlet. ‘Bourbon Coffee’s business model is built on Rwanda’s vision of Rwandans taking ownership of their own destiny. The Bourbon-US team is thankful for the commitment and collaborative efforts of the investors and guidance in making this important project a reality,’ he added Bourbon Coffee operates four coffee shops and restaurants in Kigali located at the UTC building in the city centre, MTN Centre in Nyarutarama, Kigali International Airport and Kigali City Tower. Bourbon entered the international market with the goal of introducing Rwanda’s finest coffee to international consumers and promoting its mandate for sustainable practices.
