Goalkeeper Mossi eyes Amavubi gloves

Former Amavubi Stars goalkeeper Muhammed Mossi is eyeing a return to the international scene after a seven-year absence. The veteran custodian was a key figure to Rwanda’s qualifying for the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations played in Tunisia, unfortunately, due to indiscipline-related problems; he never played at the finals where an unknown Ramadhan Nkunzingoma was number one. But he’s now reviving his career with SC Kiyovu, who will compete in next year’s Orange Confederation Cup. Mossi has been struggling to revitalize his career ever since he wasted his chance to compete in the 2004 Tunis Africa Nations Cup finals. He said yesterday, “I think I have revived my career and I believe am ready to fight for the goalkeeping position with the senior team.” “But first, my target is to help SC Kiyovu go past the preliminary round of the Confederation Cup. I’m in good shape and form and I hope we can beat Simba,” noted Rwanda’s most celebrated goalkeeper. After being a firm fixture between the sticks for Amavubi before and throughout the qualifying campaign, Mossi was sent out of team’s training camp in Egypt during the final few days before the team proceeded to Tunis. He has never played for the national team since then, but has traversed through different clubs like Mityana Fc, Express Fc, Victors Fc, and SC Villa, all in Uganda as well as Primus league side AS Kigali. SC Kiyovu kick off their campaigns against Simba at home in the weekend of February 17 to 19, before travelling to Dar es Salaam for the return leg on the weekend of March 2-4.
