Apostle Yoshua Masasu of Evangelical Restoration Church on Saturday, August 27, launched his debut book ‘Delivered from All My Fears.’ The book comes at a time fear is a reality in the world, and he believes it is high time that people stand against that ‘devastating scourge’. After more than 60 years of life and almost 40 years of ministry, Masasu’s conclusion is that there exists a fear that paralyses believers and non-believers and stops them from achieving what they were created for - spiritually, emotionally, physically, relationally, and financially. He also testifies that it is possible to live a fear-free life. “As you learn to identify the fears that threaten your life and those that are holding it captive, you can be guided on how you can be delivered from all your fears,” he said. The author shows God’s view and thoughts about such fears using the word of God and personal testimonies of those he once was bound by and the way he was delivered. He talks about his life that once was paralyzed and couldn’t prosper and now is limitlessly growing, practicing the good works he was created for in Christ Jesus with joy and fulfilment. He emphasises on fear being a weapon in the hands of the enemy Satan to destroy God’s people and faith being a weapon in the hands of those who possess it to destroy Satan and live a victorious and dynamic life. The book’s big ideas The book shows that human being is naturally afraid of the unknown, of what they cannot seem to master or control and that everything man tries to hold onto, when watched closely is more of a probability than certainty. According to Masasu, fear is increasingly present and there is a difference between paralysing fear and normal concern – that little fear that drives you to be conscientious. “It is the first that needs to be addressed while the latter can sometimes be beneficial,” he noted. “Fear and faith are both powerful forces with different directions. One’s life is defined by which one he decides to believe.” Some of the paralyzing fears Masasu addresses in his book include fear for tomorrow, fear of rejection, fear of dishonor, fear of failure, fear of opinion, fear of judgments, and fear of pain and death. He explains that they don’t easily go away once established hence require deliverance. The author also tackles that getting rid of fear is getting rid of evil, for all evils are rooted in fear. He explains how fear is an insult to God and that what one fears becomes their object of worship, which is idolatry, the greatest insult to God. Having victory over fear According to the Masasu, there is hope for deliverance, healing, and liberation if one could only understand that they cannot overcome fear on their own but they get delivered from it. When asked one of the tricks he uses to get rid of fear he said, “You can’t fear God and fear anything below it. Fearing God makes you not fear anything.” “As you learn God’s principles on how to be delivered from all your fears,” he continued, “you will get answers that lead to man’s deepest quest: sustainable freedom.” Through “Delivered from All My Fears”, Masasu also explains some steps towards addressing the issue of fear and offers guidance on how to maintain a life free from fear. “With our humanity, fear can reach us. This fear is not a catastrophy or a kind of natural disaster that happens without any warning; it takes time to establish and grow its roots in someone’s life if we feed it and allow it to grow its paralyzing stem, branches, flowers and fruits into our lives,” he said. “However, even if you can’t refuse your humanity to get scared from time to time, you do not have to create a fear field, water its roots and entertain its fruits. Once you grasp the fear-free spirit and mentality, you need to protect it and maintain it.” The author also reminds readers that “man is spirit, soul and body and all these parts of him need to be fed. The one part that is more fed and more cared for will be the one to grow faster and bigger over the others. With the light on how fear sneaks into each area of life, the reader will be left with the responsibility to choose how and what to feed each.” Apostle Masasu plans to have the book translated to Kinyarwanda and French as well as its animated and audio versions so that it can reach a larger audience. Copies of “Delivered from All My Fears” can be found at all evangelical restauration churches and will soon be available in different public bookstores and supermarkets. It is also available on Amazon for online purchases.
