Editor, Allow me to respond to Allan Brian Ssenyonga’s article that appeared in The New Times, November, 28 titled “Working for Time or Money? It is common knowledge that every business exists to earn and maximise profits, as it is essential for the survival and growth of business enterprises. The need for profit in business is paramount as it helps create surplus for growth and expansion. Profit is a good measure of performance of any organisation. Incidentally, a business is further determined by the principle of cost-benefit analysis. Whether it is a government office that provides services or a business that sells goods, it ought to be operated on the same principle. The only adjustment in determining cost and benefit is whether to use social or private cost and benefit. As for the buyer, one should always retain the freedom of choice of what, where and when to buy. Equally, the same applies to the seller. Manzi NtwaliKigali
