Editor, Allow me to respond to a story that appeared in yesterday’s issue of The New Times titled “Phone dealer loses Rwf1.8m to ‘SIM-swap’ conmen.” We have heard several complaints from clients related to SimSawp. Of course, some clients will complain but sit back without notifying the service provider. What is clear is that staff of Telecom companies effect SIM swaps without following the company procedures. For people like Theophile Minega, the businessman who lost the money through Sim-Swap conmen, mechanisms should be put in place to ensure that he is refunded if investigations show that the SIM-Swap was illegally carried out. Clients deserve to be protected. Pauline TetaKigali
