300 Ugandans tour Kigali

The Ugandan Ambassador to Rwanda, Richard Kabonero, yesterday, hosted over 300 Ugandans on a two-day tour aimed at fostering unity and sharing business knowledge between the two countries. They travelled to Rwanda under an umbrella body “Koddi Koddi Kigali” which is sponsored by Simba FM, a local Uganda radio station. Rehema Kyeyune Nakajiri, a veteran soldier currently serving in the Presidential Guard Brigade, expressed delight in travelling to Kigali for the first time citing the rich history shared by both Uganda and Rwanda. “Uganda and Rwanda are both our homes because both countries share a common history; therefore, we should strive hard to ensure that we develop them by supporting and sharing investment opportunities,” she told the jubilant crowd. In his address, Ambassador Kabonero, commended the group for the zeal it demonstrates in fostering a healthy relationship between the citizens of both nations. “In East Africa, we are one and between Uganda and Rwanda, we share the strongest bond in the region. Therefore this visit indicates that we are willing to help each other and we still have each other at heart. Use the opportunity to get as many business contacts as possible,” Kabonero advised. The Chairman of the Association of Ugandans in Rwanda, Hajji Issa Bogere, thanked the government of Rwanda for ensuring that working conditions and the business climate in the country are favourable. “The ambassador has done a great job to ensure that we are happy and empowered. The leadership of Kampala City can take a few lessons from Kigali City to improve its look and ensure that it is governed well under the rule of law,” Bogere said. The travellers later visited Gisozi Memorial Site before they travelled back to Uganda. Ends
