Germany contributes food relief to DRC refugees
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), yesterday, received a US$680,000 donation from Germany to deliver food to the 54,000 Congolese refugees living in Rwanda. The refugees to benefit are in three camps located in Karongi, Gicumbi and Gatsibo Districts. “The donation will enable WFP to restore full food rations to refugees, including providing fortified food for malnourished children, pregnant women, nursing mothers and people living with HIV/AIDS -- the most vulnerable in the refugee camps,” said Abdoulaye Balde, WFP Country Director.
