Rwanda’s sole professional golfer Emmanuel Ruterana was quick to blame the greens after a ragged display in the lucrative three-day Kigezi Crane Bank Golf Open that wrapped up on Sunday in Kabale, Uganda. The 26-year-old who was drawn in the pressure group alongside Dennis Anguyo and Derrick Lagoro carded 146 at the par-68 Kabale Sports Club course to finish fourth behind the Ugandan trio of Deo Akope, Godfrey Mande and Stephen Mutaawe. I struggled on the greens because I felt that they were not in good shape. The rains and the chilly conditions also greatly affected my game, the Rwanda Open champion conceded. The Kigezi Open show has prolonged Ruterana’s frustrations on the course, taking the months’ tally to four since his last major honours (Rwanda Open). Akope and Mande shared the event’s top honours after tying at 143. Mutaawe who also scored 143 finished third after dropping out in the play-off. At the end of the tournament, the quartet shared the Shs 3m (approx. Frw1m) cash prize.Ends
