Parents of pupils at Sinai Hill Academy, at Mulindi in Gasabo District, have appealed to local authorities to put an end to the school’s financial mismanagement. In a recent PTA meeting, Joseph Murindarugamba, a member of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) asked the Executive Secretary of Ndera Sector James Gumira, to intervene and rescue the school from financial abuse. “Our school faces closure if we don’t come up with a solution,” Murindarugamba explained to the Executive Secretary.. The school’s administration is allegedly misusing funds. “Initially this school was supposed to be free of charge for us but we were advised to contribute some Frw1000 so as to have responsibility over it,” Bashir Ingabire, former chairperson of the PTA, told The Sunday Times. “Some people with hidden agendas introduced tuition fees which have been gradually increasing without any explanations. Parents now pay Frw16,900,” Ingabire said adding that he has moved his children to another school. Ingabire said the school was built as a donation from the African Muslim Agency (AMA), an organization primarily sponsored by Kuwait..He says AMA initially intended to cover all expenses so as to assist needy pupil access education for all.Ends
