I was watching style network on Dstv a few weeks ago and I noticed that the colour for the season is jungle green-in fact for most fashion houses jungle attires were the theme of the day; and they have hit the runways like never before. Green is a universal colour, the colour of the land and trees. It has become a favourite of fashion designers, in its many hues, from powerful emerald to pastel mint green. Jungle green is a fashion favourite as it is considered a sophisticated colour. For green, this season has not returned in the form of colour only, but also the jungle attires that have hit the streets big time. Jungle boots, jungle jackets and capes are all in the streets, this time women taking the lead in their jungle attires. Jungle green may have a military connotation to it, but that doesnt mean all the silhouettes have to be masculine. In fact, nothing looks prettier than a girly shape, especially one with ruffles adorned in jungle drab. Whether you go full-on military with an army jacket or just go for a military feeling with details; cargo pockets, epaulets, etc. the effect of jungle attire is crisp and clean. Dressy shorts are one of the cutest new silhouettes; done up in jungle style they can serve in any occasion. Other clothes which have been designed for the season and are ready in shops ready to be tried include skinny cargo pants and long skirts. Whether you go full jungle with a military like or just plain jungle attires; one of the newest ways to wear your jungle attires is to treat it as the ultimate neutral: mix freely with bright or tonal prints.Another great way I saw the jungle being used was in a wedding. The maids were treated to jungle attires ready with complete boots and matching hats, because the theme of the wedding was supposed to be a safari theme in the African jungle and that was something I had never seen before. Long buttoned up dresses with a jungle theme were also featured highly in the fashion week. In fact you don’t have to wait to go for a safari to wear your jungle attires. If it is a working day jungle green shirt paired with khaki trousers can do the trick for the men. For the ladies jungle full dress can be formally worn as a piece and paired with something bright to neutralise the colour- and you will be ready for any meeting. Accessories can be heavy and chunky if the jungle attire is worn on the weekend, but for office wear jungle attire can be paired with pearls to bring the official looks back on track. On a weekend out; faded jeans and t-shirt paired with jungle jacket and ankle boots can finish off the jungle look.
