‘Discover Rwanda Magazine’launched in the Netherlands

A magazine, Discover Rwanda, and its Dutch version, Ontdek Rwanda, was put on the shelves during the Rwanda Investment Seminar held in the Netherlands, yesterday. The Rwandan Embassy in The Hague, yesterday said the publication aims to raise “awareness of Rwanda as a tourism and investment destination,” as they are spearheading activities related to investment and tourism promotion. Friday’s Rwanda Investment Seminar was held in the Dutch town of Wassenaar. “The main objective was to demonstrate the Overview of Rwandas Investment Environment to the Dutch business community, Doing Business in Rwanda from the Dutch Perspective and present investment opportunities,” a statement from the embassy read. Immaculee Uwanyiligira, Rwandas Ambassador to The Netherlands, told the over 100 business leaders in attendance that Rwanda is open and ready for business. The Ambassador offered participants – mostly Dutch business operators, a copy of a 179-page booklet on investment opportunities in Rwanda, a research commissioned by the Embassy and conducted by the International Research Student Project (IRSP). “The IRSP report is designed to serve as a tool and guide for potential investors in Rwanda’s priority sectors such energy, agriculture, infrastructure, information and communication technology, financial services, tourism, and others,” reads part of the statement. Frans Makken, the Dutch Ambassador in Rwanda, made a presentation on Rwandas investment environment. Ambassador Makken explained to the audience that Rwanda has put in place all necessary policies to facilitate foreign and domestic businesses operate in mutual beneficial ways for themselves and any of their partners. Dutch business leaders like Co Meijer, Managing Director of Kadaster, reportedly talked about the experiences of doing business in Rwanda. Others described success of their companies and encouraged Dutch business leaders to consider Rwanda as an investment destination. Joost Bolt, a government official, told the participants that “the Netherlands government is ready to support and encourage Dutch investors to find business partners.” Officials from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and the Private Sector Federation (PSF) also attended.
