Market Report for September 22, 2011

Yesterday, on the RSE the market was more active compared to the previous day’s trading as more transactions and volumes were recorded. The total turnover was Rwf187,204,000 recorded from 1,380,000 BK shares traded in 61 deals. BK shares traded between Rwf135 and Rwf137 and closed at Rwf135 unchanged from yesterday’s closing price. BRALIRWA counter did not record any deals for the day and the share price remained unchanged from yesterday’s closing price of Rwf282. KCB shares last transacted at Rwf175 while NMG shares last transacted at Rwf1,200. In the mean time, yesterday Brairwa announced its half year results and the market reacted to the news. The Brewery realized a Net profit growth of 40.1 per cent to Rwf5.4 billion driven by a solid operating profit growth. The Revenue grew 26.5 per cent mainly driven by higher volumes and the company’s Earnings before interest and taxes and net finance expenses (EBIT) increased by 33.5 per cent. At the end of formal business hours, there was an outstanding offer of 13,400 BK shares at Rwf137 and no buyers. On the Bralirwa counter, there were outstanding bids of 1 million shares and 74,000 at Rwf259 and Rwf272 and three offers of 2,100; 5,000 and 50,000 shares at Rwf282; Rwf285 and Rwf290, respectively.
