Rwanda National Police (RNP), dominated Day Three of the ongoing Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) Games after edging out their opponents in various sports disciplines on Thursday. Rwandan athletes impressed in taekwondo where they won six medals. The gold medalists include Yvan Mucyo in male individual under 30, Jean Marie Vianney Muhire in male individual over 30 and Nadege Umurerwa in female individual under 30. Aline Ndacyayisenga also won silver in Taekwondo female individual under 30. The male and female teams also won gold after topping the list with 8.13 points and 8.6 points, respectively, while Rwanda also won gold medal in the taekwondo country standings. In Athletics, Rwanda's Emelyne Imanizabayo won silver in women's 5000m after she emerged second behind gold medal winner Prisca Chesang of Uganda Police Force (UPF). Mercy Cherono of Kenya Police Service (KPS) emerged third and hence won bronze. In 800m, Rwanda's Honorine Iribagiza qualified for the finals slated for this Friday at Bugesera stadium. In boxing quarter-finals, Zacharia Niyonagize beat Kenya's Shaffi Bakari while Patrick Ndayishimiye eliminated Okumu Jalaibe of South Sudan in the middle weight 75 kgs. After beating Burundi 3-0 in the volleyball opening game, Rwanda registered their second win after beating Kenya three straight sets (25-22, 25-20 and 25-12) at BK Arena while the basketball team beat Tanzania 112-41 at Lycee Du Kigali in their very first game.
