Dear Aunt Silvia,My boyfriend and I have been dating for the last seven years and we have two children together. All this time he has not hinted about marriage. Now I have turned forty and I feel like time is running out on me. You see life has never been fair, I have never heard in my entire life that a person has everything they have ever asked for in life. Some people pretend that they live in a fairy tale world of perfection, but in truth people hide a lot in their closets.Even though you are dying to walk down the aisle with the man you love, and he is yet to propose seven years down the line, thank your lucky stars that at least you have two beautiful babies to be proud of all the time you have had. There is also one thing you should know about men. No man wants to be pressured into walking down the aisle if he is not ready. And at times just because you have children with a man does not mean that he is thinking of you as wife material. I have heard of stories where people live for twenty years without getting married and later say that they were not meant for each other. He might also be thinking of walking down the aisle with somebody else that is why he is at crossroads not knowing what to say to you. You just never know – cross your fingers and pray hard girl. Also the first step into being sure of where this relationship is heading to is to talk to him; he needs to know your feelings. Sometimes women think that men can read their minds. They are not magicians neither are they angels – unless they are informed of the feelings going on, they would never take a guess. If he is willing to continue your relationship and take it to another level, he might be honest and tell it to you, and give you the reasons as to why it never happened soon. If he is not ready to tie the knot- then you will read it from his body language. Just so that you know-life does revolve around walking down the aisle or getting married, sometimes it is best if you make do with what life throws at you and make the best out of it. If it throws lemon at you make lemonade out of it-instead of making it bitter lemon. Try to live one day at a time and enjoy your life to the fullest and forget what people might be saying about you. Just because you are not doing what other people are doing does not mae you a lesser person.Each one of us is destined to live their own lives, in a different way in their own little worlds. Try and make your world a better place to live in -appreciating every little thing-and hope that life grants your wishes and makes your dreams come true. Ends
