Society Debate: Is it normal for men to get ‘excited’ about receiving flowers?

It is a gay arrangement I strongly believe in telling it as it is and therefore I feel the need to let people know that men who get excited about receiving flowers are not real men. They are women trapped in a man’s body. Think about it for a second before questioning my nerve. A man buying flowers is one thing and a man receiving them with vibrant excitement is something else. What kind of straight man receives flowers at all to begin with? If he has ever, I bet my fame that in his mind he wished he hadn’t! Ok, it is a good gesture, truth be told but, men do not see it that way. Well, at least real men don’t! If a woman wants to get her man something nice just to let him know she is thinking of him, then she buys him a cute pair of cufflinks, wallet, tie, or a belt but, for the love of God, not bouquet of flowers! What will he do with those flowers anyway? Put them in a vase and water them? That is as likely as getting him to watch Pretty Woman with you. Seriously, some things were just made for women because we are the ones who appreciate them more. He might have them in his office but make no mistake about it, they are only there to make the room feel fresher and look prettier. Not at any time will he gaze at them sighing at how beautiful they are! Men are so uninterested in flowers that even when he chooses to buy his woman a bouquet he will not think deep into what she might love the most (that’s why they need professional help form the florist). It could be roses, lilies, orchids or whatever else is out there. For men, flowers are flowers. In fact the neighbours’ garden could do just fine if they weren’t home! On Valentines Day, the one day when most men feel obliged to give their women flowers, he strolls in with non other than a bunch from the reject section, completely oblivious to his woman’s you-could-do better-than-this look, on her face. After all that’s been said, how then does a man receive flowers and act super happy about it. It’s just not right people. Men appreciate things they can put to use not something that is just there with no purpose (according to them at least). They will appreciate anything from a nice watch to a wallet to a box of Cuban cigars to a case of Russian Vodka! Not flowers. Sisters, never under any circumstance attempt such a gesture; I don’t care how lovey dovey you are feeling. And to the brothers out there claiming to be men, seriously flowers just don’t do it for you. Masculine is what you are supposed to be. Enjoy soccer, wrestling or boxing, drink beer and be the handyman around the house. Go out with your boys and drool at hot girls. That is what men do. Under no circumstances must you get excited about flowers or anything even remotely feminine. There is a man whose name I won’t mention who has flowers delivered to his office everyday. I thought that was queer but then again he is also known to wear actual feminine makeup so I guess that explains it. rachelgaruka@yahoo.co.uk
