The new Minister of Commerce and Industry Monique Nsanzabaganwa yesterday handed over to Finance and Economic Planning Minister James Musoni papers concerning her previous portfolio. Nsanzabaganwa was until March 7 the State Minister in charge of Economic Planning in the Ministry of Finance, The position was scrapped in the latest reshuffle. The new Commerce Minister replaced Protais Mitali, who was named Minister of Youth, a position previously attached to the Ministry of Culture and Sports. Nsanzabaganwa promised to continue working hand in hand with other ministries and stakeholders for the development of the country.Yesterday’s ceremony held at the Finance Ministry was presided over by Minister James Musoni, and witnessed by the ministry’s Secretary General and the head of the State Treasury, John Rwangombwa. “What we have already achieved in the Ministry of Finance was a result of cooperation and teamwork. There is need therefore for the continuation of the same spirit so as to better serve our country,” Nsanzabaganwa said. Musoni hailed Nsanzabaganwa’s “outstanding contribution” to the ministry, particularly noting her role in the creation of National Institute of Statistics and the formulation of the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategies (EDPRS). He promised his ministry’s support to Nsanzabaganwa in her new duties.Ends
