Just days after signing for Rwanda Basketball League side Orion BBC, American point guard Jared Harrington has been appointed to join the club's newly-formed board of directors. Harrington left South Sudanese side Cobra Sport after agreeing to play for Orion during the second half of Rwanda Basketball League. He joins a six-man board of directors which was established as part of the club’s continued efforts to grow its franchise in all aspects including proper administration structure. Club proprietor and director James Mutabazi said that he decided to appoint a board of directors after he realized that it was too big to continue to manage it alone. The team is new in the league and I’m also new and there are things that have been difficult to manage. So sometimes I make decisions that do not help the team progress, that is why I decided to appoint a board of directors to collaborate specifically in making decisions about the life of the team, Mutabazi said. Jared Harrington, a renowned basket baller, sportsperson, businessman, and philanthropist who has recently been playing in the Basketball Africa League is currently making a great impact in Africa through his Arenas and film studio projects. Harrington has started a 20-year Africa wide project that has set out to build multiplex sports arenas, dubbed Jared Harrington Multiplex throughout major countries in Africa beginning in the Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC) in Kenya. The 50,000-seat arena will bring tourism, job opportunities, advance education, sports efficiency, and overall hope to young Africans globally. He joined Orion Basketball Club board of directors comprising Prosper Musafiri, a former UN staff and a development economist and planning specialist, Elie Kharrat, a partner and Director of Operations in the international engineering design consultancy Dar Al-Handasah (Shair and Partners), and Eddy Sebera Kimenyi, a seasoned economist with over 20 years’ experience in building capacity and delivering operations recovery projects. The board also includes Albert Mukwende, a businessman, Philanthropist, and former UN Officer with Over 25 years experience as an IT (Software) Engineering. And while he was working with the UN he travelled across Africa, Europe, America and Asia and James Mutabazi, esteemed young entrepreneur and businessman. The latter is the founder and president of Orion Basketball.
