The gutter journalism emerging in Rwanda can partly be blamed on the negative forces. These forces have resorted to using emerging local news papers and the online editions to practice gutter journalism. The publications are trying to paint the image of the government negatively by alleging all sorts of things. Remember, no newspaper in the world has survived on the market for long by publishing one sided sensational stories. The publication will sell, but for a short period unlike publications practicing honesty journalism like The New Times which will survive against all odds and remain a major source of information. Don’t forget, the honesty and zero tolerance to corruption that partly won sympathy for the current government which people are fighting. Like Rotarians, the leadership running this country seems to say: ‘service above self.’ This has trickled to the grassroots. Rwandans know that Rwanda belongs to Rwandans. Therefore they will fight any negative forces bent on undermining the current leadership and keep Rwanda on course. Kagitumba
