PSV Eindhoven winger Saint-Cyr Johan Bakayoko says he could feature for the Rwandan senior national team. The 19-year-old talent has been on fire in the Dutch Eredivisie this season netting five goals and providing three assists for PSV in 15 games, arguably establishing himself as the best young player in the topflight. Born in Overijse to Rwandan mother and Ivorian father, the former Anderlecht youth team player represented Belgium from U15 to U21s level but he insists he could switch allegiance to Amavubi for his senior international career. It is not only Belgium, and I do not know if I will choose Belgium. My mother is a Rwandan and my father is an Ivorian so I have options to play for Rwanda and Cote d'Ivoire as my parents are from these countries,” he told French News outlet Le Soir. Bakayoko was promoted to the PSV senior team at the beginning of the 2022/23 season following his exploits with the youth side where he banged in 22 goals in 50 games. He started his playing career with OH Leuven and has also featured for the youth teams of KV Mechelen and Club Brugge. Bakayoko recently extended his contract with PSV up to June 30, 2026 despite interest from a host of European top clubs including Paris Saint Germain.
