A total of 378 students will today graduate from the School of Finance and Banking (SFB) in the institution’s second graduation ceremony. The Gikondo-based University which was last year leased out to Michigan University in the USA will award Bachelors degrees to 342 management students and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) to 36 students. According to the varsity’s vice rector in charge of Academics, Prof. Erasmus Kaijage, SFB will, for the second time, award Masters in Finance, Banking and Project Management. He said three MBA students will graduate with a distinction (above 80 percent), 29 with a credit (between 70 and 79 percent) and four with a pass (60-69 percent). But the undergraduate category has no student in first class, Kaijage said. He continued that in the BBA programme, 46 students are in second class upper division (between 70 and 79 percent), 219 in second class lower division (between 60 and 69), while 77 students will graduate with a pass degree (between 50 and 59 percent). Kaijage added that several companies, , have offered to award best performers, among them Ernst and Young who will award the six best students. Cogebank will reward the best female student. Other institutions which have offered support include the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, and Ecobank. What is special at this ceremony is the fact that graduands will at the same time leave with their certificates and transcripts, something that has not happened at any of our country’s universities before, he boasted. The Kigali Health Institute (KHI) held its graduation yesterday while the National University of Rwanda (NUR) will also hold a similar graduation ceremony on March 28.Ends
