Dealing with the other women in his life

He may not exactly be seeing someone else but it is no secret that most men have that woman or women for that matter in their lives who literally give you something to compete with. Whether its family or a simple friend, there is that woman, a woman he can actually first consult to even use the bathroom! Let me start with the most important of them all, his mother. He might insist he’s not a mummy’s boy but the woman probably has other ideas. After all, she did spend almost a year wiping his bottom so cut her some slack. She will be over protective and even spiteful sometimes seeing as nothing is good enough for her son but take it all with a graceful smile and a pinch of salt and spend time getting to know her (however painful). Sure some of these mothers are just peaches but in all sincerity, the one thing every woman dreads is meeting the mother of her partner. That is when you get the sudden urge to visit the toilet, or your palms get all sweaty and you just can’t seem to be getting enough oxygen supply! Yes, it is that bad! If you’re the jealous type, knowing your man is close to another woman can be tricky. Yes, I mean his best friend, the girl he’s so ridiculously fond of. In this case, the most important thing to remember is that if they wanted to be together they would be. Either that or they tried a hand at it and things just didn’t work out. Be honest about how you feel without sulking or nagging him to his very soul. Chances are she probably feels insecure around you too; after all she was there first. Make an effort to be friends with her and she’ll probably love you for it. Trust me, when you get in well with his friends, you get in well with him and that’s what every woman wants right? Now, when it comes to matters concerning the workplace, whether it’s that gorgeous girl from marketing or the one who’s ‘absolutely hilarious’ it can get a little bit jarring when your man rambles on and on about these wonderful women. Sure they must be great but must he throw it in your face all the time? The truth of the matter is that when he is with his colleagues there is pretty much nothing you can do about it other than grab your earphones and let the volume on your iPod reach maximum level every time he gets back home to bore you with stories of what the hilarious girl said. What are you going to do? Forbid him from seeing them anymore? Tell him to get another job? Keep telling yourself that every time he’s staring at his computer screen (obviously when he’s not going on about the funny girl) he’s probably banging on about how wonderful you are. He is with you anyway, isn’t he? Sisters are family, so never under any circumstance underestimate them. Even if they drive each other up the wall and fight like cat and dog, be rest assured there is a strong bond between your man and his sister. So if you’re sensing any negative vibes from her, then is not the time to show her who’s boss. Be nice but don’t get too close, she’s probably not the best person to talk to about your relationship problems. You love Facebook and every second you get, is spent reading all the silly things people post. The most thrilling part is checking out your man’s Facebook comments. It’s amusing till you get to his wall and some woman is taking her friendship with him to a whole other level. Then it ceases to be funny. Talking to him doesn’t help because he will assure you it is just Facebook and therefore shouldn’t be taken literally. But what’s to take lightly about someone who can’t wait to squeeze your man’s bottom? Just save yourself the trauma and not be friends with him on Facebook. I can assure you it helps. Last but not least, his ex girlfriend who just happens to pop up at every spot you go to. There she is perfect as a picture with so much insight into his life; you can’t help but feel like a sitting duck. Just breathe and tell yourself that if he still wanted her he would be with her and not you. But make no effort to befriend her; there is absolutely nothing you will gain by being friends with your boyfriends ex other than a cat fight! rachelgaruka@yahoo.co.uk
